How to Extract IP/DNS Address of Your Broker’s MT4 Server

In this guide, we will show you how to extract the IP/DNS address of your Broker’s MT4 Server from the MT4 SRV file.

1. Start your MetaTrader 4 terminal.
2. Go to [Files] -> [Open Data Folder] (or use the combination of the left [ALT]+[F] keys and then the [D] key).
3. A new window should open. Go to the [config] folder, where you will see the SRV files that store Brokers’ MT4 Server information.
4. Open [SRV file] with [Notepad] – In this step, Windows will probably message you that it can’t open this type of file, so you need to choose [Select a program from a list of installed programs] and then choose a [Notepad] program.
5. Now, you need to look for the DNS/IP address entry inside that file.
